Saddle Moving Forward Conclusion

I’ve found that the distinction here almost always lies between the snarkER and the snarkEE.

Snark is, by definition, kind of bitchy (I believe it’s a combination of “snide” and “remark”). There’s always a victim somewhere. The victim rarely finds it funny. Quite often the snarkER does not want the victim to find it funny, so I guess that’s understandable

LOL, back to the original topic, I know the OP. I can say that the problem is not that she isn’t sitting correctly or that the horse is downhill. I haven’t seen her ride in the custom County, but I just saw her ride in the old borrowed County, and the saddle didn’t slip and the horse moved very nicely. Makes you wonder

The rest of the thread has been entertaining, to say the least

If the saddle is moving forward - the saddle doesn’t fit. We’ve had this problem and switched saddles. If you have to put any additional padding in any areas under the saddle - it DOES NOT FIT.

BTW, while my TB’s saddle fit has changed only imperceptibly as she has added and subtracted weight over the decade I’ve owned her, I’ve seen both of my ponies change saddle fit dramatically in 2-3 months with a weight change, easily a tree size. Lucky for me I did not actually find a saddle in that time, and make the mistake, but I have the tracings. They add their fat across and behind the shoulder. The TB puts hers on in the belly, haunches, and neck.

While I am not AMD’s mommy, I don’t enjoy seeing anyone attacked. Seems to happen on these boards way too often. We should be the happiest people in the world- we have the privelege of having horses!!! I will always “preach” support and kindness.
Saddle fit is a very difficult issue, but a CUSTOM saddle should fit the CUSTOMER…

From what I glean, AMD’s problem is quite different from that of the OP. AMD says nothing about the saddle not fitting the horse - only not fitting her. BM7’s problem is that her saddle has never fit her horse properly, and she told the fitter that, from the beginning. AMD, by her own admission, did have a period where she was delighted with the saddle. The OP hasn’t been so lucky. :sigh:

Apples and oranges, to my mind.
