OMG yes that is so true! I didn’t even know it was a thing until after I had kids, and the lack of research and knowledge, especially from my OB, was quite surprising. I also found I had an easier time riding smaller barreled horses than I did on bigger barreled horses. As a short person, my pelvis relaxed better if I can wrap my full leg around the horse, instead of feeling like it stretched more on wider horses. I hope you start to see improvements in your recovery soon!!
I have owned and ridden in every fancy saddle out there - but with a growing 18hh wb and my narrow hips, I found of all things that the Stubben fit me best - the Portos Elite is the one I settled on - horses with big sloping shoulders love it and the bendy tree, narrow twist in the Elite fit us both - I have bought a second one for my daughter
I ended up going with a CWD Hunter Mademoiselle (17" 4L flap). The moment I swung my leg over and sat in the saddle I smiled. Hell, I could’ve cried. For the first time I had zero discomfort and my body simply relaxed into position. It am truly amazed that it eliminated the intense pressure I once felt in other saddles. The seat was very soft yet supportive, had a nice narrow twist, and the buffalo leather is lovely.
I’m simply elated to be able to painlessly pursue something I love so much. Definitely feeling blessed.
Handsome!! What kind of bridle is that? I like it!!
Thats the new Butet Hunter bridle/reins in the “Gold” color. It was oiled/conditioned and is buttery soft.
Warning: I have the “Cachou” color and it is the stiffest leather I’ve ever felt. So, beware if you decide to get one that this is an issue. I believe it is because they had problems with stretching? I definitely would NOT buy the darker one again and would instead get a Hadfield’s or Edgewood.
Lovely horse!
Thats fantastic! So happy for you and enjoy your horse
