Dubs looks like a cuddle bug. I like to wait until a dog is about 2 to 2 1/2 and past the puppy stage to bring a new one in.

It would likely be a good plan to make sure Dubs (who is too damned cute BTW!) is settled into life with you before introducing another youngster to your home so you arenāt dealing with two young ones at the same time!

My heart aches with yours. I am sure Dubs is helping your heart heal quickly.
I like a few years between dogs. Older dog helps with manners with a new pup. But I currently have an 8mnth old lab cross and I could totally see bringing in a new pup in a few months (I would be a three dog house then). But that is really close in age and big dogs just donāt live long enough. That would be a lot of heart ache in a short span of time.

I have 3-4 years in between dogs. I like to have solid obedience installed, house manners solid. I donāt want to lose dogs to old age close together. My Poodle will be 11 years old in July. My Poodle mix is 7 years old now and my German Shepherd turned 3 in February.

Update: We were planning on waiting about another year butā¦ best laid plans and all that. I have a good friend that is very involved in rescue and she had a dog that got returned that just caught my eye and I couldnāt stop thinking about. So introducing Leonardo DogCaprio (he came with the name Leo but we had to fancy it up a bit 
Heās a 11 month old pittie mix and he is about the sweetest, happiest dog Iāve ever met but he is definitely a handful lol. Hereās our official adoption photo

We had a lab named Baron ā he was dubbed Baron von Peezalot, because, wellā¦he did.
