Safe Sport Update

Let’s look closely at exactly what’s happening here.

She also appears to lack of moral integrity, victim blames women who are survivors of sexual assault, and she believes that being gay is a popular fad.

Take a look at the rest of her ideas and opinions.

There’s a big difference between comparing two things, or two people, whose behaviors are brought to light, And someone who, like the father in the example, is simply giving his daughters friend a ride home.

I find it interesting that the people who judge Kavanaugh guilty with zero evidence don’t mind that many years age while practicing criminal law Hillary defended a child rapist and her argument was that the 12 y.o child asked for it, asked to have her insides damaged so bad she could never have children when she became an adult. Hillary got the rapist acquitted. Somehow that is acceptable to your moral standards. I consider that to be sick.

I feel sorry for Tyrus.

And there goes the thread.

How the heck did you go there from here.

Mods, perhaps shut this down as we apparently can’t play well in the sandbox.

You guys are way too easily distracted…

Back to our regularly scheduled program…the January 28 issue of COTH (p. 99) has an article saying Safe Sport should be required for everyone at shows including non-members of USEF.

That will put a greater damper on show participants than the 63% MFS rule…

I get it, I really do, the whole SafeSport thing. We don’t really have anything like that here and I think it would flop due to internet issues. Internet is not so fast or accessible. I think that SafeSport relies heavily on people having proper access to the world wide web, and speedy access at that. That is a major fault of the system. Then to come up with no alternative for a program that you are insisting is so important and for the better of the sport kind of baffles me.

I don’t think it is a bad idea, education and awareness are a good thing, but implementation needs work.

…from my outsider’s view.

Yes you do, unless you live in a country that doesn’t send Athletes to Olympic games.

Safesport training is mandated by the IOC to NGBs, not just to the United States, or USEF.

But what I mean is that the average rider that is staying within the country here, is not effected, yeah? I’m thinking of our internal competitions. On the Olympic/International level was not my thought, but I was not terribly clear on that.

I don’t know, I shouldn’t have commented.

Edit: The EU does have Pro Safe Sport though.

Anyone who participates in national federation shows, not only FEI shows, has to complete. It’s on the national federations. Here that’s USEF, there I’m presuming it’s BEF. No one here just showing in local or club level is obligated to take SS, but all people everywhere at the national level must complete for teams to be sent to Olympics, horse sport or otherwise.

Squirrel!

No, you are wrong. We now have to take the training due to the USEF interpretation of the law Congress passed. They choose not to try to define different roles, but it is not because of an Olympic rule.

Ok, I have to look into this and feel seriously dumb. I and other friends/acquaintances/stable mates, competed at recognized shows and/or national level shows last year, and are gearing up to do so again this year, and have not heard of Safe Sport or anything like Safe Sport with BEF. I really thought it was just a USA thing.

We removed a political tangent to keep the thread on track.
Thanks,

Correct. S.534 - Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 is a U.S. Congressional law. See Equibrit’s post # 62.

@mod1 please edit the quote contained in this post as it also references the political tangent and the definition which caused the outcry. Thank you.

I did it - hadn’t gone back to check and expected it would have been edited when other changes were made.

Note: not a USEF member and I don’t compete at recognized shows so I don’t need the training.

But for high speed internet, most towns have libraries equipped with high speed internet. They are free and generally accessible.

If you happen to able to get there during the strange hours they are open.
At least that is the case of the libraries in my part of the world. They are only open hours I am at work.
