The bolts are tedious at best, but it’s a higher timesaver in the long run. Also, forewarned, there is an art form to removing the bale meeting and getting the hay hut flipped before the bale deconstructs (some are worse than others). I keep meaning to be there when they hay guys do it so we can try cutting the net off the top 2/3 only, to see if that lets it hold its form at the base long enough. But as round bale problems go, that’s definitely first world problems!
Yes we tore up the bale a bit getting the hay hut flipped over it - I was worried for a minute it wasn’t going to fit at all. It seems to be doing well so far. Mare seems to be less than happy with it (spending more time than before standing at the gate instead of eating) but I think that’s partly due to her not having a buddy.
How’s the customer service on Hay Huts? I was more interested in the Bale Barn but I can’t even find a manufacturer’s website and none of the resellers seem very professional, which makes me nervous if I need any type of customer service.
I had them leave the bottom 1/3 of the bale netting on this time and it made the whole process a lot easier
@kaya842. My hay guy custom sizes the round bales for me, for ease of flipping the hut back over when new bales are put out.
