Say it isn't so....Inclusive on USEF Drug List

I’m heartbroken. I’ve completely refused to believe my favorite horses, Inclusive included, were drugged. I guess it isn’t so. This is so disappointing.

Just for reference/reading, the hearing ruling:

Disappointing? Yes. Surprising? No.

Certainly Dr. Parker will find that $300 administrative fee onerous. The freight to return will be more. USEF/USHJA continued efforts to exact “meaningful change” hard at work here for sure. Pathetic for our “sport”.

A suspension of seven months is not a light penalty, nor is a 7k fine for each trainer. USEF also dinged Tommy Serio for eight months and 8k.

This is more than the usual slap on the wrist that we’ve become so accustomed to.

Is Brigid Colvin Tori Colvin’s mother?

More importantly… I need to hang out with these Arab people… they seem like a fun crown.

And the creep who violated a minor…that was their first lifetime ban? Wow.

Parker will also have to return all money, ribbons, etc from the 2014 USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship Horse Show, in which Inclusive won… If I’m not mistaken. OUCH.

I’m not surprised.

Maybe Inclusive has high blood pressure? GABA is great for that.

I knew Steven Rivetts when we were young. Steven, you’re better than that. He can ride anything, gently and fairly. :frowning:

thanks for posting the link. is this the 2nd (or more time) Serio has been set down? If so that could be the one of the reasons for the 8mo/$8k fine?

What does GABA do?

So does that prize money now get passed on to the 2nd place horse - now winner?

I always wonder if the junior/rider knows about this happening and that they are riding a drugged horse. Riders probably don’t have a lot of time or hands on with the horses at the shows.

P.

Of course the horse was drugged for the junior or amateur rider. Smacks forehead. sorry to be slow.

And Polydor, I am sure there are some in each camp. Sucks to be the rider/owner that doesn’t know, and I firmly believe there are some.

Tori Colvin rides Inclusive, so while she’s a junior it’s not like she NEEDS the horse to be drugged to make it go nicely. This is a huge disappointment all around.

Woof. That’s quite a set of Notices of Penalty.

The Hearing Committee has not previously imposed a lifetime ban on a member. But given the serious nature of the violation, Mr. Cates’s stature at the time as a trainer of many minor athletes, his systematic and insidious grooming of the minor victim over a multi- year period for his sexual benefit, and his consummation of sexual relations with the victim while she was a minor, the Hearing Committee determined that a lifetime ban is appropriate here for Mr. Cates’s violations of the Athlete Protection Policy in the Federation’s Safe Sport Policy.

They’ve gotten quite a bit more serious with fines as well.

I believe Brunello and Liza won last year.

I find your naiveté refreshing, but I wish that you could take a look in the medicine boxes of ANY trainer winning at any of the big shows.

Lexington, Ky. - Tori Colvin and Inclusive claimed victory in the Classic Hunter Round of the $180,040 USHJA International Hunter Derby Championship. Their scores of 92, 90 and 95 for a 289 total was unmatched after a field of 75 horses contested today’s course in the Kentucky Horse Park’s Rolex Stadium.

Jimmy Torano, the busiest rider with eight mounts in the class, saved the best for last as he guided Mindful to second place with 90, 92 and 94 for 288 total points.

Inclusive won the Classic Round, but Brunello won overall.

Unfortunately, I’m not naive but rather was hoping the “best” don’t have to cheat. I’ve been in the medicine cabinet, and I’m fully aware what “he doesn’t take much prep” means when one trainer is discussing a sale horse with another. I don’t play that game anymore (thanks dressage land) and I was really hoping the top horses didn’t need it and that Tori and Betsee were above it. Very disappointed.
