Scheduling Farriers am I being unreasonable

Yep I am just going to have to schedule in advance so I am not always shuffling everything.

Farrier might be able to squeeze me in a week early this time so cross your fingers!

Also I always hold my horse, then if something goes weird, no one gets hurt!

Try to schedule when he is there. If he won’t do that will he come out to the barn in the evening when you can be there? I am always there for farrier appts. I want to see what is going on every time.

My last farrier spoiled me. Every sixth Saturday at 9:00AM sharp he was turning down the drive. Five years, without fail. I’ve used a new farrier for the past year. She doesn’t work Saturdays, and because my work schedule periodically changes, I can’t commit to the same day each time. So we work out our next appointment before she leaves.

I’m always present. At my last barn, I always held my horse, but now we’re fine just tying her.

Have my horse on about a 7 week schedule. both the farrier and I know but I text him about a week before as a reminder. He used that reminder to schedule both my horse and another barn in the area. He cross ties my horse who sleeps pretty much through the entire shoeing but I am often there just to chat. Horse is cross tied with yarn so if anything happens the yarn breaks.
This week when my horse threw a shoe right before his appointment another farrier tacked it on at no charge as they all cover for each other in the area and are great friends.
