When I was trying saddles I tried a Wave and had the same feeling.
I bought a JES Elite - but it is an old one with a Hennig tree. It has the flair panels which worked really well for my hard to fit horse (TB withers, QH shoulders LOL).
I haven’t experienced any bounce in the flair panels - I have ridden a few with them but they were all adjusted by saddle fitters trained by Schleese. I think there is a risk in over filling them which makes them bouncy or hard.
The only complaint I have about my saddle is that it is really heavy.
I felt the same way in the Wave I had; I then got an HK and it was similar. I ended up getting a Custom instead and greatly prefer the closer contact feeling.
Thanks for sharing your knowledge, Farys. I’ll look at Hennig and the other brands you mentioned.

Lucassb, others have mentioned Custom, too. Which model did you get?
Countrywood, I found a Trilogy Verago to demo. Elsewhere people have written that their horses move really well in it, so I can’t wait to try it. Thanks for the suggestion!

Greengirl,
Hermes only makes one model, the Corlandus. It comes in regular or wide, seat sizes from 16"-18.5. There are some used around. After losing thousands on custom and custom fitted saddles the stock out of the box 17.5 W fits the horse and I beautifully. It is not for everyone though. It is monoflap and quite minimalistic. Another saddle you may like is a Roosli. Where are you located?[/QUOTE]
Halfling, I am in Wyoming. As you might imagine, English tack is difficult to come by here, so I have to rely on websites or trips to Colorado.

I have a Custom Advantage … quite a close contact feel. I also liked the Revolution, but my horse preferred the Advantage so there you go.
For my young horse, I have a Wolfgang Solo. I wanted a deeper seat and a bigger block as he is a much bigger mover. I LOVE it - it is cushy and soft but I can still feel his back, and it’s very secure without making me feel locked in place at all.
Saddle fit and preference are so individual. Try as many as you can before you decide!
