Relax the attitude a bit… if anyone here is friends with these trainers, they’re not going to recommend them to a problem client (you).

There is absolutely no indication that OP is a problem client, nor any indication that she has the wrong horse for her, needs but she needs help. And based on your posts over the years I have been on the forums, YOU are the one with an attitude problem.

Thank you for your feedback, a few days late.

Why someone would come to the H/J forum to ask for a not H/J trainer is beyond me.

Why someone would buy a young horse they can not handle is beyond me.

Why someone would say their horse is “a jerk” when the only jerk is the handler is beyond me.

But yes, I probably do have an attitude problem because I’m sick of rank beginners saying their horse is the problem. Check, check on that one.

Any suggestions within an hour of Montgomery/Berks County? 4 years old, an overall jerk who needs all the basics with ground work AND under saddle simultaneously (I’ve been told I won’t find anyone who will get on him without doing extensive groundwork for about a month or more and I find that odd, but I’ve been out of the loop for a decade or so). I would prefer a NOT hunter/jumper trainer but I am happy to be proven wrong here and will seriously consider all suggestions. I would love to find someone who would come to the farm to consistently work with him but realize that is most likely a pipe dream and I’m ready to send him out to someone ASAP. Thanks in advance.

Thanks BAC. I knew when I started this thread that I would get lots of unsolicited advice and opinions, and there would be a lack of reading comprehension by one or more who chose to respond. I was not wrong on any of those counts! Thankfully I got lots of replies that were thoughtful and consistent with my request, I have made a note of all of them, and I will proceed in whatever way I choose.
