Sea Aire owner (Laura Bowery-Falco) in the news for alleged DWI

Bluey, that was an interesting post. However
"The responsibility they are convicted on is because they choose to drink, but not really of what they do when drunk in itself."
Are you sure?
If they kill someone sure as heck they are going to be charged with something other than DWI

One of my best friend’s father was killed by a drunk driver when she was 12.
The fellow was driving with a suspended license because of another DWI and had several on his records.

He got 5 years and was out sooner than that.
Maybe today justice is a bit more careful, knowing that so many that drink and drive will repeat again and again, until they kill someone and then they will not get put out of circulation but for a bit only.

I know several trainers that work for some big barn that have to take care of the drunk owners in the evenings, at times get help to keep them from driving.
They say they get fired regularly every evening while handling the drunk owners, all to be forgotten the next morning.
At least those owners have arranged for someone to care for them when drunk, so many don’t.

Drinking is a complicated problem for society and adding drugs to those addictions is not helping.
I hope this one trainer will try to manage better, now that she has been in trouble, but somehow doubt it.:frowning:

My facts are straight. The woman is facing charges. That’s not being rude, and it’s not posted for “entertainment” purposes.

If we were speaking IRL and you said to me that stating facts is the same as gossip, I would’ve said to you IRL that gossip means idle talk or rumor, not police blotter facts, and I was telling you the latter.
Anyone ,that I know, would consider your response to my post (which was, “do you know what that word means?”) to be rude.
All of us have different lives. Where you live, and among the people you associate with , that type of response may be common.

Where I come from, it is rude.

The “fact” that you do not have straight is the definition of gossip, not the fact that this woman was arrested…
I have no idea why the thread was started. Entertainment? Gossip? Public Service Announcement? and don’t really know how to feel about it. If you will re-read my post you will realize that it was not at all contentious and certainly no reason for incivility.

You’d think so, or at least they’re trying to be, but sadly, so often when something terrible happens you hear that the person has X number of prior DWIs. We’ll hope that something like this is a serious wake-up call for the people involved.

In Colorado anyone convicted of a DUI is now required to have an ignition lock breathalyzer installed in their car. Depending on the case it can be required for years. I don’t know if that has any effect upon the rates of recidivism but the arrest rates for DUI are down…

The driver’s license … has been revoked for six-months after which time an ignition interlock device is required on her vehicle

wait–this happened in 2013? and she’s only being sentenced now? or is this another incident? and has she been driving around since 2013?

This is (very) old news; iirc she plea-bargained it down to accepting a DUI conviction and the rest got tossed.
