PS, 2 hours to NYC means you can go to the end of the Metronorth Harlem line, which ends in Amenia NY. The area vet practices are Millbrook Equine, Rhinebeck Equine and I think New England Equine (,I am sure there are others). There are barns with board under $1,000. I know Oblong Valley Farm, without an indoor, charges $600-odd. I do not know what the care is like.
