Shameless brag: OH MY GOD I'M AN EN BLOGGER CONTEST FINALIST
Hi PaintedHunter, thanks for the s/o and good luck!

judybigredpony, I think hints like this without explanation just build suspense and worry for no reason. Something is either worth discussing openly or not. I have a ton of respect for Xctrygirl, both when she is criticizing and praising EN, so I don’t mean to step on any toes here by providing a bit of background. Basically, on 14/11/13, we got an email from Xctrygirl saying that a post she had submitted had been edited beyond her comfort level and she asked it to be restored to its original version. After trading emails and calls with Xctrygirl and the team, we realized that one paragraph not been copy and pasted from the email into the article (along with 6 or so minor tweaks – taking out an “LOL,” etc). Xctrygirl had a great point to not be happy about that mistake, we happily restored the paragraph with apologies, and the email train ended on a very positive note. We’ve had some great and productive communication with Xctrygirl since then as well. Part of the reason for creating the new Bloggers Row format is that everyone can enter their own posts so there isn’t a risk of their being a copy & paste issue/error.
There is no suspense…it is what I said ask XC how it went…period.
I didn t enter not my Experience… also not for me to explain or air someone else’s Experience or view. Why it says ask XC…If I was PM ed I would say same thing as XC…

…and most of us love cheering you on as you grow as an eventer.
MOST OF US? OK, who’s got the Ollie voodoo doll making his neck thicker?

Congrats PaintedHunter! OT but, did you find a place to board in DFW? I moved from there not too long ago.

I did! Rose Hill in Anna - my current trainer rec’d them, along with a couple people here on COTH.

Great! You’ll have fun there. Good luck with EN and with the move. I’ll look for you at Area V events!

Well, unfortunately humor’s my thing. Superior vast knowledge of national and international eventing? I’m no expert. I’d be a fraud if I tried to write about that on a serious level, but some say I’m amusing. Gotta work with what I have.
I didn’t say anything about expertise. I didn’t say anything about national and/or international eventing.

I said ‘insightful’. You can be an insightful writer without any expertise in your subject. You can also be an insightful and humorous writer, expertise not required.

And shameless again, they’ve posted my first entry

Good stuff there! Love it!!
Also wanted to add that another COTHer is a finalist — divinecomedy, or Maggie Deatrick. Go COTHers!

So I am! There’s two of us, Painted Hunter!

JER, I’m more of a numbers girls (engineer, what?) so I’m aiming for more of a sports analyst angle with my Round 2 entry. I love reading sports writer’s opinions, so I’m hoping to skew more to that end if I’m picked to continue writing for EN.

Yeah, PH!! I love reading your stuff!!

That will be three COTH bloggers then- add albertaeventer to the list of nominees! How fun for all of you- what a great opportunity.

That is where I recognized that name from! Couldn’t place it all!

Congrats to everyone and can’t wait to read all of the first round entries!

P.

I am so glad that JBRP even remembered that I was a finalist before. Shows someone was reading it!!!

First off CONGRATS TO BOTH Painted Hunter and Divine Comedy!!! The blogging contest is a lot of fun and I greatly enjoyed conjuring up what I thought would be fun posts during the contest.

Second, thanks to John for saying you respect me. Given our beginnings, I am humbled by this statement.

Third, to clarify what JBRP alluded to in, and why she did I have no clue this thread should be about Painted Hunter and DC, but be that as it may. She may have been mentioning the issue John detailed. Or she could have been implying since I do not write regularly for EN that as the only one of the 4 finalists my year who didn’t end up with a regular column that in some way shape I was a loser. I wasn’t, John bugs me regularly to write for him. I am just busy.

So all in all, EN Blogger contest rocks, you guys will do great and I will read your stuff with great anticipation!!!

~Emily

I’m tired of horse haikus and listicles of 9 Ways to Deal with Winter and jokey musings about barn life.

OTOH, I never get tired of reading insightful commentary on horses and eventing.

I’m hoping for more of the latter. :)
As long as she doesn’t start posting as her horse. That has gotten old…

I love your humor, especially when it is self (or self’s horse!) deprecating! Being a newby BN myself, I can totally relate to your writing.

Heh. You’re going to hate my entries then, JER

Keep on keepin’ on PaintedHunter! I personally love your Haikus and sense of humor… including your updates on Ollie’s adventures.

In fact, can I friend you on Facebook please? I’d really like to be able to tag you next time I rock a XC course and post “My balls are on fire!”

Friend away! I would love to be associated with flaming balls. NOT IN THAT WAY.

Done! We shall be flaming ball friends

Speaking of balls, I made mention of giant, swinging balls when I was riding in the clinic this weekend with Stephen Bradley. He laughed, but I am pretty sure he thought I was certifiable.
