Like any other procedure horses need to be trained to stand for sheath cleaning. Start with a hose running over the back hooves and work your way up the legs to the sheath over time. Many people don’t think their horses have a bean but they don’t really know where to feel. I agree that most owners do it too often and screw up the natural bacteria level.
