A friend of ours has bred and shown them for years…last year she neutered every one and sold/gave them away…she said she was tired of the “crazies” and that they were too hard to sell/place…if that’s a clue!!
You see them pretty frequently in NYC and I’ve yet to meet one that wasn’t aloof or semi-aggressive. I’ve had a lot of dogs, grown up with dogs, etc., and I still don’t think I’d get a Shiba, much less for a first dog. I think they are beautiful and can be great dogs in the right home, but for a first dog? Run fast, please.
