I think I’ve posted about this many times in the past (and probably posted a ton more details), but I used shockwave on two of my horses with incredible results. Paired with really good chiro and acupuncture, it seemed to break the cycle that both horses (each with slightly different, of course, SI issues) were prone to and allowed them to hold the chiro adjustments and subsequent conditioning far better and for far longer. One was my mare who was conformationally challenged (to put it nicely) who probably should have been physically limited to 3’6"/1.10m range to go on and win everything through the 1.40m. The other was my OTTB who went on to show through 5* FEI Prixes.
We only did the shockwave once - it might have consisted of a couple of appointments over a short period (tough to remember), but we never repeated the approach again after the initial course of treatment.
I think we did injections at later points in their lives, but it was a long time ago. My mare is now 28 and long-retired, and my OTTB passed away at the age of 23 this year. So it was probably 20-ish years ago for her and 16 years ago for him.
I do think the shockwave was a game changer for both.
