My 16.2 hh Westfalen used to wear bell boots up front. He has size 2 shoes up front, size 1 behind (approaching size 2). I purchased larges for him with the bell boots and keep using the larges up front without bell boots. He doesn’t wear them behind. I tried on someone’s medium and I like the length of the talls versus the mediums. I’m considering putting some on behind (he’s most sensitive up front) and I’ll use last year’s front larges and see how they fit. They fit his cannons better…I always have struggled with what is the proper fit, too.
My mare rips them off but they don’t tear up like the other boots she rips off. Unfortunately out of 4 I bought last year I only have one but I bought 4 more. They are hot pink so I don’t know where in the pasture she hid them.
She does have a sore on that pastern that I am trying to keep bandaged. I finally had to use elasticon to wrap, spray it with Raplast, put a Shoofly over that, spray it with Raplast and I am having better luck keeping the bandage on.
They do not fall down like the other wraps and come off without having straps torn off. They just play hide and seek in the pasture.

I have only ever used size MEDIUM on all my horses. They range from a 14.2 small-boned Quarter horse (wears size 00 in shoes) to an almost 16 hands huge boned Quarter horse (wears size 2 in shoes). The medium works fine for all of them.

That’s what I wound up ordering and they do fit her fine. She always manages to lose one of the hinds though, so a little tricky to get them adjusted just right.
They are great! Medium on all 4 legs for my 15 hand big boned Irish tank, if that helps.
They are awesome- and I have them on the horses 24/7. I have found that they can beat them up enough that the stays start to come out, but my amazing Amish tack shop guys reinforce them, and they are like new. I do try to switch them out, and wash them as regularly as I can. I now have enough sets to keep everyone in boots, in spite of repairs and washing. I have the bright blue ones, and I have one that is missing. No clue. I’ve been all over that paddock.

I got some last year and they were falling apart around the bottom band within about 3 weeks and were rubbing her where the mesh was exposed. Maybe I just got a defective set?
I haven’t bothered with them this year.

I have them and use them on my guys. They stay on 24/7. Every once in awhile one comes off, but it’s usually in the stall (not sure what they are doing in there…maybe scratching?). They stay on while rolling, bucking, cavorting, and general loss-of-mind antics.

WOW. What a game changer! And they’ll pay for themselves in fly spray savings. Love love love. Mine measured 13.5 inches around the coronet so I ordered smalls and they’re great.
Take em off at night just cuz I do. I figure they like the break. Who knows.

Smalls for my almost-but-not-quite 14h pony mare. They definitely work, but I want a pair in a brighter color than blue for when she does manage to lose one.

Question for those of you who leave them on 24/7 - don’t your horses occasionally poop down the back of their leg? I’d like to leave mine on the pony 24/7 when I travel (horse sitter isn’t really a horse person and pony has a history of EPM, so I’m trying to avoid having her need to do anything near the hind legs), but La Princesa invariably poops into the boot the day before I leave, which makes me take them off for the weekend because “what if she does that again tomorrow, and the boots stay on with poop in them all weekend? That CAN’T be good!”
