I tried them on Saturday - they are LOVELY.
I’ll second the idea of trying kids’ larger sizes. I’m short (5’1") and when I was a bit thinner, I had kids XL riding tops and a protective vest. Could not do kids’ breeches because I “have a very low center of gravity” to put it politely, AKA big hips and butt. Yet somehow kids’ top half stuff accommodated my then 34D bust.
As a side note: I’m losing weight, gone the GLP-1 route, down 15 pounds and would like at least another 10 off. This would put me at 135, which probably sounds really heavy, but I’m built like a Cob and am positively bony at 125. But I won’t fit in kids’ sizes even if I get there. Believe them about muscle loss!
You definitely don’t sound heavy, I’m 145 at just under 5’2, most of which is carried in my thighs (seems genetic since the same has gone for my mother) lol
I think we’re built very similarly then. Being heavy below the waist does help me stay on when a horse gets silly… In my case, it’s from my dad’s side of the family. My mom wasn’t that tall (5’5") but she had lanky arms and legs, and narrow hips.
I tried the new Techlite tailoreds and they really are lovely. I feel like back in the day TS were considered so expensive, and now in a see of $400-$500 breeches, it’s wild that they feel like a more “affordable” option at under $200.
Also, if any fellow shorties want to buy a pair of 26 short TS (boysenberry) feel free to PM. I just find I prefer the low rise and mine are medium.
I’m 5’2" and wear regular length breeches and haven’t had any issues. Tailored Sportsman are probably my favorite fit overall, but I have a sponge bob square pants waist. I do not find them to be too long for me. If you like the fit, I don’t think the length will be much of a problem unless you have really short legs.
That is the best description for me!!
I’m not short (I’m 5’9"), so I can’t speak to the short part, but IME the Tailored sportsmans can be a little bit thick and uncomfy for summer showing (obviously all depends on your personal preference). I used to only wear TS’s but have since switched to Samshields and will never go back (I order from England so MUCH cheaper). I also had problems with the fit of the TS’s, it was almost impossible for me to find the right size, they either fit my waist and were suffocating my legs or comfy on my legs and huge on top, I have this problem a lot with jeans though as well- but all this depends on your personal preference and body type
