Here’s a link to the story. Absolutely horrifying!

Do you think this is a hate/jealously crime? That article had the farm name wrong. It is Centennial Farm that Debbie owns.

You’re right that, beyond horryfying, and that this can happen right near your home.

Horse belonged to Steve and Debbie Stephens. Very disturbing.

That is terrible. It makes me want to go put a lock on my horse’s door… poor horse. And owners, looked like a nice horse.

Absolutely horrific and I feel just awful for Debbie and Steve

Centennial is based out of Imperial Farms - it’s a multi-farm facility I believe

Not a hate/jealousy crime. Rumor is its related to the horse meat industry and possibly the slaughterhouse raids

That is horrible, I cannot fathom how someone could do such a thing?!

Horse theft related to illegal slaughter/black market meat trade has been happening in Florida for some time now, though I’ve usually read about horses being taken from more remote locations.

That someone targeted a large equestrian facility to do this is unbelievably bold and even more disturbing.

What a terrible thing to go through.

I absolutely can see a few situations. A. its a direct retaliation because of the recent busts and their publicity. Richard Cuto stated several times he believed the horses killed were show horses from Wellington(a really strange observation without proof). B With the closure of the illegal facilities it makes the acquisition of horse meet look for new avenues of procurement. C. Its some crazy radical trying to prove Cuto’s point that show horses are targets. Whether that is to instill fear or get publicity …

This is horrible…

Yes, Centennial is based out of Imperial Farms, so story di not get the farm name wrong.
There is not a bone in my body that does not believe that this crime is NOT connected to the crimes/raids of the slaughterhouses so close to WEF. This is a high profile rider and a high profile course designer with close ties to WEF. Someone was “sending a message.” They chose a very expensive horse that was in the barn ATTACHED TO THE HOUSE!!! That says “we can get in the house anytime we want and do the same to you!!!” There is more to this story, and we will either learn more about it or NEVER hear another word about it!!!

Just posted this on the off course. Should have come here first.

Like all crap that originates in Miami, this too is migrating north. This is really disturbing that it happened at a farm like his. Nobody is safe. I just wish that for once, one of these scumbags are met with an owner holding a shotgun…and that they are butchered alive.

It seems to have little to do with slaughter as if it was slaughter for profit, they would have put the horse on a truck and shipped it to a sluaghter plant. This sounds personal and who knows why it happened, the thieves in Miami stick close to home why would they travel to Manatee county and target a show horse makes zero sense.

I’d say it’s a retaliation move by members of organized crime.

D@mn. This is scary. I feel absolutely horrible for the horse and its owners! Were my horse targeted like that, I would not rest until the person responsible faced the same fate.

I feel horrible for the horse. I hope it died quickly and that the perpetrators are punished.

I hope the poor thing did not know what was happening and did not suffer long. My heart goes out to the former owners in France who sent him off with such high hopes.
