Show jumping Friday AM

Go team USA!!! Leading after Round 1!!! :D:D:D:D:D

I drove into work early to start watching at 7:15 this morning… Around 9:30 my company’s IT Director walked in to talk to me about a joint-department project and I had the horses running on one of my monitors. First comment, “I thought we’d locked down all of the streaming,” followed by my begging him not to take my Olympic feed away… It ended up with me explaining the sport and him staying for several rounds, including Beezie’s! He promised to pretend he hadn’t seen anything and may come watch again on Monday.

…back to those stirrups that Rodrigo and at least one other rider (Brazilian?) use - they have only one branch and have step-in treads like a bicycle. I’m not sure how the boots work when you are walking around in them. Some new fangled system that the riders are paid touse to get them off the ground I think. Be interesting to see if they take off. Safety may be their buy line.

Yay! US Showjumpers to the rescue!

Seb

For those that are still curious - here are the stirrups in question. They are similar to bicycle clip-ins: http://www.freejumpsystem.com/societe.php5?language=en

I had to pipe in the usa did great but did anyone notice the big grey stallion from Belgium???

He jumped a foot over everything. AWSOME HORSE!!![/QUOTE]

Tell me about it! For once the live stream was working and I was not!

Big gray horse from Belgium is Cumano, ridden by Jos Lansinck. They won the 2006 WEG over Beezie and MMB in a very tight competition.

Did anyone notice Jaguar Mail? Jumping for Sweden? How did he do? No need to answer. I looked him up. 8 faults first round.

Wow, if these work the same way as cycling cleats it seems like that would be dangerous! If you have to twist a certain way to get the clip to release, as in cycling, seems like there’d be a good shot at getting your foot stuck! Yikes.

I tried them out last winter in Wef. Supposedly you can’t get ‘stuck’ in them like you can with cycling, there is a breakaway device…something about a certain amount of pull and torque (honestly, I can’t really remember what the rep guy said). I just didn’t like the feel, I sort of felt trapped and it still made me sort of nervous…Guess it would solve the problem of slippery stirrup pads on rainy horse show days though.
