Show Jumping Olympic Short List 2024

Imagine his 5 star horse(s) are already in Europe and he had the B/ less experienced string at Devon.

And he can ride anything and make it look good if not great growing up in a dealer barn that got them sold.

He had Contagious, who is on the short list, at Devon.

Nice article by Aaron Vale. How did he have time to write that and be in Europe??? https://www.chronofhorse.com/article/a-need-for-speed-but-not-below-a-certain-height/

Maybe he wrote it on the plane.

He also had some interesting things to say in a podcast earlier this spring.

Great article, wholeheartedly agree with him. The speed bump jumpers going at mach 3 is terrifying to watch. I’m thankful my local schooling show has moved to optimum time for these levels. Hopefully the rule change passes.

What does this mean, “he just melts down” ?
I don’t know Karl, except for his name.

And thank you to the owners, and breeders.

Thanks very much!

I wonder what happened with Kent Farrington.

Landon stopped twice at A of the double Liverpools.

Really? The score showed WD for withdrawn, not E for eliminated.

I’m also wondering why Aaron didn’t come back for the second round to try to post a clear so they could drop one of the other scores.

But I’m sure there will be a press release before long.

Aaron did come back. The results I posted were live, the class was still going on. He hadn’t gone yet. He had 8 faults in the 2nd round.

Thanks. They had not updated the scores on the website when I refreshed it just before my previous post.

Karl had a clear and 4, Kent eliminated, Lillie had 8 and Aaron 12. The team was 6 out of the 9.

There are lots of people who love to hate Karl; even when he gets the best score of the entire US team, he’s accused of not having what it takes to be on a team lol. I really don’t think there is much difference in the abilities among all of the potential alternates for Paris. It’s going to be a good learning experience for whoever gets chosen.

I used to like Karl until it became obvious that his horsemanship is lacking when the video of Kalinka going into a victory gallop came out. Admittedly I’m not a fan of victory gallops anyway, but it became a silly social media argument and he just acted like a child (most of it was in stories that are long gone).

My biggest complaint is that he simply doesn’t have the decades of experience that Smurf me thinks should be a consideration for being on the team. I’m not impressed that Mom can spend $9m to buy a new horse every time one is injured, frankly that makes me think less of him. When you can bring horses up the levels, and have the toolbox to deal with helping your horse through the biggest course of its career, then you deserve to be on the team. Not some rich kid that gets a new horse that’s already doing 1.60m every time the other one can’t hack it anymore. Unfortunately I know that being able to actually train has nothing to do with selection, but it just feels like a rich, not super educated/talented person buying their way to the top (again).
