Showed my horse!!! w/ picture

A while back I posted about being so nervous that I was panicky and not able to show.

Well, after working on my mind for several months; making sure my boy is in tip top health, I went to a show. I was a little nervous, he was VERY up and showey but I had a lot of fun. Even a bit of leaping into the lope in the make up ring didn’t scare me off!!!

I’m pleased with his performance…although getting used to riding a ‘show’ horse is going to be a challenge. He’s a totally different horse at shows that he is at home.

Here’s a pic of us. My feet are too far forward…a bad habit. But, I’m sitting up much straighter. I thought I was smiling the whole time but this pic looks like not. Anyway, I like the way he looks. He sets up and goes like this all by himself. No training aids beyond grazing bit and romel reins.

Awesome!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!! I love him so much!

He’s a beautiful boy. Great job

Beautiful horse!

Very nice job, both of you! Congrats! I totally understand what you mean about your horse being different at shows. I have yet to have a horse be the same at home and at shows!

My carriage horse was the same everywhere…a real lady’s horse. So Harry, being more normal, is a whole new challenge. My solution is to just show and show and show and learn to enjoy his happy spirit!

Is he a Morgan? Love him!

Yes, a Morgan by Tug Hill Whamunition. What I love best is that this is Harry, out of the box. I am an amateur owner/trainer/ rider. So nice to be able to show out of the back yard!

Whamunition was one of my favorite stallions!

You both look amazing…nice, NICE job!!

Great job! Very nicely done!!!

Gorgeous!!! Keep going down the road with him and he will get more settled!

Congrats on getting out there! Both you and your horse look fabulous! Each one you get under your belt without incident is a little bit of a boost to your confidence – just keep that in mind.

Thank you all so much. It does my heart good!!!

Next year I’m planning to go to bigger shows. Although the competition is tougher…think 'snowball’s chance;)…there are more classes offered. More opportunities to get in the make up ring and show ring.

My main class is AOTS…not offered at the smaller shows. All other classs put me up against ‘trainer’ horses. Even the amateur classes put the amateurs on their horses that live at the trainer’s barn. I came really close to being rammed from the side in an amateur class. Amateurs don’t learn how to handle problems…this lady had a problem with the lope transition and the horse verred off the rail barely mising us.

The trainer warms up the horse, handles the problems…the amateur doesn’t learn to work thru problems. Plus the amateurs let the trainers choose their horses and tend to like the hotter ones. Really dangerous when there’s almost 20 of us in the ring.

But, nothing ventured, nothing gained. Say a few Hail Mary’s and get in the ring!

Thanks again for your warm comments.

Mine too!
