Showing by myself...stall drapes?

I’ve shown by myself just one horse at QH shows and put up stall drapes. Usually I am on the end of a trainers row and set up my one tack stall and one horse stall. Everyone else on the aisle tends to be nice to me for the week. I didn’t get the “who does she think she is” kind of vibe though it is a different world from Morgan/Saddlebred peeps, who I think are friendlier!

I say go for it! I do have a question and I hope this isn’t a hijack, but where does everyone get their directors chairs from? I know I can get cheapish chairs online.I don’t really need a logo monogrammed on but would love to find black with yellow trim. So far I can only find places to do custom monogramming/logos.

Just trying to look cool with my one man show set up

Radon makes them in custom colors, just call them or send an email. Great to work with and do all my custom color stuff.

Otherwise buy the chair in black and find a local person to add the yellow trim.

@DiamondJubilee, I’ve seen your setup at the Royal before, and always admired it! I figured you were a bigger barn based on how professional it all looks - it’s really nice!

Thank you! No, we are just a small private farm with a few ponies of our own. Just my husband and myself and we show for fun. He’s a carpenter by trade and loves making things!

@luvmyhackney Thank you! I completely forgot about Radon! duhhh

Thanks for the recommendation

Just a quick update, we successfully showed with stall drapes ROFL

I kept it pretty simple, used light 1x3s (we cut 6’ & 4’ lengths so that they could be adapted to any stall size) with zip ties, then stapled the curtains to that. Other than futzing with it a little because I didn’t like the way things were laying, it was pretty easy, and I did it myself (maybe took 30 minutes?).

I didn’t have anything super fancy out because the show did kind of sneak up on me, but I had two plastic trees that used to sit on one of my porches and I grabbed those at the last minute to dress it up a tiny bit. A friend lent me a floor, and though my chairs were not fancy no one gave me dirty looks haha!

It was really nice to have a private place to stash my stuff, particularly as the show was tiring and “throwing things in there” was a frequent thing as I was trying to manage the horse myself.

We did well, for my first rated horseshow in 15 years, first real rated saddlebred show, and yes, a pretty champion & reserve champion ribbon adorned the valance by the end of it. I’m hooked!

This reminds me of the show where I discovered how much my horse loves Ritz crackers. I was sitting in front of his stall at a show that has half doors. I had a cracker in my hand, and got distracted talking to someone with it about at my shoulder level. Damned if he didn’t take it right out of my hand. He forever more recognized the crinkle of the plastic wrap of those crackers. It made for a easy snack for both of us. For him, I’d guess it might have had to do with the salt on them.

I had an Arab gelding who would beg for grapes, and a mare who would kill for cheese Danish.

I don’t get any great pictures of the drapes, but I did get the best outgate picture ever as he spooked at the ribbon and made me laugh. This was after he dealt with a rather crazy warmup ring and the noise that is a saddlebred show.

photo is great, looks like he is inspecting the ribbon thinking “Yes That’s Mine, but really thought it should be bigger”

What a hoot! Frame that in 8x10 over your mantel. It shows off his lovely profile to great effect.

“Excuse me, but I believe I deserved the champion ribbon… and I believe it should be larger, too.”
