Who did you get to do the freeze brand. Vet’s won’t do it where I am at. I have previously had horses with 2 hot brands (hip and neck) and feel it is a great identifier

Whatever the freeze-brand method used – can I suggest not where it can be covered by mane? In evacuation / rescue situations, sometimes it isn’t safe to approach a horse to get a better view of that area.
Warmblood registries and ranchers brand below the hip joint in the large open area. That is easily found and photographed.
We had our horses freeze branded by our state’s livestock association, when they were present at large horse expo events. This might be a service offered in your area.
My horse already had the brand when I got her but I had my vet do the microchip

My horse is chipped but is one of those generic plain bays. My previous horses had very visible hot brands in the hip and neck. I feel a visible brand is a theft deterrent plus a good identifier.
