Side Saddle: I finally tried it!

I recommend leather seated breeches for sidesaddle. Especially for those with smooth seats. Suede seats are really great but the smooth seat sidesaddles are OK too.
Yes the thing with the high boot tops is one thing we all run into. If you have an older pair of boots that you can have the tops cut down that will work for sidesaddle.
Actually in the “Old Days” the ladies wore leather pants. Long leg with a strap under the foot to keep them from riding up the leg. No slipping with those. With those they could wear the little jodphur boots and be OK.
The "Old Name " sidesaddles fit different ladies in different ways. Some can ride a C&W and fit well and try a Mayhew in the same size measurement and not have the Mayhew fit at all. So for the finer fit it takes time to try out different sidesaddles.
For jumpng the rider has to be in Sync with her horse. To be left behind the horse when going over a jump is not only very uncomfortable but looks bad too.
It will all come together in time and practice.
Just get out there and enjoy the fun of the sport.
