Silver FreeJump soft stirrups allowed in the Hunters and Equitation?
Doublesstable, I have the leathers and recently switched back to my normal leathers. I don’t think it makes a huge amount of difference feel-wise and I found the FreeJump leathers scratched my saddle leather. And since I was switching these stirrups from my extremely durable Smith Worthington, which they were marking up, to my extremely expensive and less durable Tad Coffin, I did not want to take a chance with them causing any more wear than necessary.

The leathers are great, but not at all required. I am keeping them around in case I get another pair of FreeJumps for my SW, which I would like to do, because I ADORE them, but won’t get the leathers for my TC.

I ordered mine from Amira Equi and it was much less expensive, though they still aren’t cheap. Not sure if the price has gone up. ETA: checked at they are still cheaper. I had no problems ordering there. I actually had to return my first set of leathers and that also went fine. They sent me another set in an updated style with no hassle. The return took a while but I expected that.
Thank you for your response… helps a lot those leathers are almost 300.00… I will check out Amira…

I have been trying to talk myself out of them LOL!!!

Okay - So I was pricing them… they are 363.00 at Amira - did you have to pay customs to the US?

I found them at at tack store for 370.00 free shipping…

Never mind…I didn’t see the actual silver ones. They didn’t have those when I bought mine, I have black ones. I thought they would be the “vanilla.” The silver is more expensive and I gather only so they can charge Eq people more for it or it is harder to make or something. I see nothing actually premium about them.

Unless you do a lot of Eq I strongly prefer the look of the black.

Anyway, I went back and looked and even the black ones are more expensive now and at one point they sent out an email about a price increase, so it isn’t as much of a price savings as it used to be. But I didn’t pay customs and I didn’t pay VAT.

I have had mine over a year. You will love them. worth it. For that price difference, though, I would buy domestic.

Yeah LOL!!! I noticed the silver were more expensive too! I gathered the same conclusion

I like the black better too but there have been some shows where my trainer has me do a few eq classes so probably better to get the silver. I do take fillis irons to shows just in case.

I’m excited to get them!!!

Thanks for you help!!

Doublesstable, USEF’s response was definitely a bit confusing. I recently tried the MDC hunter classic stirrups (the ones with the wide footbed), and while they alleviated some of the joint pain, I didn’t feel as secure in them as I do in the FreeJumps. I wish they would make an exception regarding the FreeJumps.
