Sink in unheated barn ... Worth it?

This is what my darkroom sink and stand looks like: http://www.freestylephoto.biz/62445-Delta-Sink-Stand-for-Delta-4-ft.-Economy-ABS-Darkroom-Sink-48-in.-x

Not deep, but nice and long. I won’t use a faucet, per se, but another instant hot with sprayer hose. I think it will work!

I just got one of those $50 free-standing plastic laundry sinks and I’ve used the crap out of it every day since, for everything from hand washing – finally, clean hands to apply antibiotic eye goop! – to filling those stinky fly traps. It’s only been a week, but already I don’t know how I lived without it.

looks great for your purposes to me! I don’t have a second heater/area for one, so mine had to go where/in water/wash stall area. (but my area for that is large enough for it, too) … if you were going to have that one around horse/legs I would ‘enclose’ the bottom area I think? Be sure to update us with pix of it all !

ayrabz, yes, I think it’s a good idea to enclose it and that should not be too hard. However, having said that, my idea is not to have it in the same area as the horses. I’ve got a lot of work to finish before I get to this project, so I will let my ideas percolate for awhile. I just had to wash my shoes that I’d worn out into the field during the monsoon … in the KITCHEN sink! yuck! Sure I’d had that sink already set up out in the barn!

Because of the weight and stability, I would definitely put a concrete pad under the sink. The weight of a sink, gallons of water, and the frame could weigh quite a bit, and it will be a pain to put it on dirt, or something weaker than concrete.

Good point, and that is just what I have in mind! There is a big pad of concrete in my barn, about the size of two stalls. Don’t ask me why, it was here when I bought the place. In fact, I am pretty sure it WAS two stalls at one time … I am putting in a lounge area there, and the sink will be in that area.
