1 rail and time for Jessica and Exponential

2 rails and 1 penalty point for Jess.

Now if the powers that be are so worried about the horse’s welfare, why in H*** are they making them do another round??? Really, complaints about giving two medals for one performance have NOTHING to do with the important things like the horses!!!

Oohh nice little pats on the neck after the refusal.

Lovely to see the French rider pat and reassure his horse after the mistake instead of going for his whip. It was a genuine error.

rail and refusal for French rider - otherwise lovely ride!

YES!!!

They really shouldn’t have to jump two rounds today!! :frowning:

Yes but the reduced “endurance” without having phases a-c is often used to justify the extra effort.

French rider got bad spot to the 2nd in triple with stop a the 3rd. Clear 2nd time through.

Go Phillip!!!

Not going great for them so far. Horses must be tired.

Yeah, I guess that’s kind of true. Wasn’t yesterday’s xcountry 3.5 miles? Not exactly the endurance test it once was.

Figures…would rather return to long format - or at least include R&T…

10:03 optimum time. Denny recently posted the 1976 Championship XC day times and if my memory is right, including the 10 minute vet box, the horse was out for about 97 minutes (including a 5 1/2 minute steeplechase at 690mpm!) Yesterday was definitely NOT the effort it used to be.

Now just heard Ingrid has withdrawn!![/QUOTE]

Yes - it is apparently official.

event horses are simply not used to 2 rounds of jumping in a three day - may be tough to get them back “up” for the extra round. Once every 4 years, means once in a lifetime for most horses.

Well … they are unlikely to come to the kind of grief in SJ that they do in XC.

The IOC sounds difficult to negotiate with.

I do feel really bad for the horses having to go again. I wonder if they are a bit confused by the whole business.

2 rails for Stefano. That horse is gorgeous.

WELL DONE Joseph Murphy! Nice horse, lots of jump left in it. Clear and clear.

FIRST CLEAR ROUND is BY AN IRISH RIDER!!!

On a CRUISING horse!!!

I hesitate to say it but the extra mental demand placed on the horses of the second jumping round probably doesn’t compare to the pretty straightforward requirements of the dropped phases, particularly the steeplechasing?

amen to that!
