Skid boots for a hunter? (And other overreach protection suggestions)

Thanks @Xanthoria. But don’t these protect the front of the hoof and coronet band? I need them to protect the back of his front feet.

Did you see the extra pics? They might work if tuned to the back. That said, so might bell boots and a pastern wrap, or rundown boots.

The all in one styles look perfect, though pretty $.

Ditto to the suggestion of the Professionals Choice Combo Boot, where the bell boot is attached to the sport boot. Would give you the most coverage possible. Only downfall is the bell boots always wear out before the boot itself does.

Would you be willing to post pictures of his feet? Would be nice to see if there is something that can be done differently.

For anyone searching the forums for a similar solution, I wanted to post my final (I hope) solution.

I bought these scalping boots and turned them around backwards. They basically work like a pastern wrap, but have enough material to cover the heel. I’m actually shocked how well this is working…and they were only like $32. Thank you @Xanthoria for the recommendation!

Plus I love supporting a small business.

Yay for good, cheap solutions!

I’ve never seen it, either. Can you find pictures of horses wrapped like that while working?

Ok, so one person.

You asked me to find you an example (in fact “a picture”) of someone not in an awards presentation riding a horse wrapped like this. I did not realize that meant I had to spend my time finding exhaustive proof that every single person does this.

Get over yourself.

Actually, I asked for pictures.

Actually, you edited your post. It used to say “a pictures” pluralization error yours.

However since you’re going to argue semantics:

What’s the attitude? She provided a VIDEO to show it in action. Very much appreciated on my end since I’ve never seen anything like that. If you want more, go look. Presumably @soloudinhere has a job or other such obligations, and therefore more important things to do than provide stacks of pictures for suspicious minds.

“of horses” The pluralization was not an error; leaving the “a” before pictures was the error.

Wow, talk about an attitude.

Anyhow, the picture of Adrienne is clearly normal polos. I’m not on instagram so I can’t see the other pictures. For some reason, it let me see the picture of Adrienne. In polos. The implication was that this kind of wrapping is common. It is not. Being in Wellington, I guess I would have seen it frequently if it were common. I have not seen it at all.

There’s an underwrap down over the bell boot. There’s even a nice close up for you.

I’m also in Wellington but I guess not the same stomping grounds as you because I see it every day. It was a nice attempt to seem relevant, though, A for effort. Also A+ at ignoring the proof to the contrary “because I can’t see it.”

Welp, I’m about as impressed that you’re in Wellington as you are that I am.

@soloudinhere thank you for the numerous examples! I haven’t seen wrapping done that way (probably because I’m a h/j rider) but I think it could work well for one of my horses with a specific issue. I appreciate the great visuals!

Right Decision.

Baby warmblood had sports medicine boots with bell boots for awhile when he kept overreaching, clipping himself, and pulling off shoes. Just has bells sit a bit higher and sports meds boots secured a bit lower. Did the trick and allowed for one or the other to be removed if deemed necessary.

Thank you for the examples! I wish I knew how to execute this type of wrap!
