Slant vs Straight load on 2 horse BP
I can’t imagine how wide/load a 2 horse slant would have to be to fit a large horse. My friend has a normal size 2 horse slant and it’s a good 1’ wider than mine. No room for error on windy roads or tight spots.
They get longer, not necessarily wider, for larger horses.

Hate slants and shudder in horror at step up/downs.
I’m curious as to the horror at the step-up/down trailers. Is it just a potential risk issue or what? Not trying to be snarky, but I’ve never met anybody with such a strong opinion on it.

I used to hate ramps because I had a yearling I was supposed to handle at a show freak out getting off the owner’s trailer. She slid when she put her front feet on the ramp and jumped, lost her footing on the landing and ended up on her side next to the ramp. She ended up with her legs UNDER the ramp. Luckily between the owner, another handler and myself we were able to get her calm enough that we could put the ramp up. She was fine, but really banged up and it could have been so much worse.

Every horse I’ve had (owned or leased), I’ve taught to load and unload politely in straight, open stock and slant loads both step-up/down and rear/side ramp trailers in case of emergency. I want to know that if I’m unavailable and my horse has to be moved that it is as easy as possible for whoever is doing the moving.
