Sliding barn doors = winter pain in the butt
I was daydreaming about sliding doors and how they’d be so much better to have.
They are so much better, if they are hung up off the ground with an adequate threshold and well maintained. But yeah, no matter how religious you are about shoveling anything after a winter like this you will have issues. The frost is supposed to be in the ground 48" in our town. The inner doors are heaving. Despite plowing the driveway once, sometimes twice a day, I was driving DOWN into our garage for the past month. With a sliding door you have to maintain the ground under it. With a sliding door you have to maintain a much wider area.

We have a swinging door on the 200 yr old family barn where I keep a tractor and even with the path cleared, I have to lift the corner with a shovel and use that to slide the arc.
