Small space feed storage

I’ve been using stacking containers like the IKEA ones for 10 years and have not had any rodent problems. I bought mine at Canadian Tire. Other hardware stores might have similar bins. I’ve had the plastic hinges break so you have to be careful how to stack them, but otherwise they’re great. I would not stack more than 2 or it puts too much weight on the lid of the bottom container.

My part of Michigan doesn’t have any selenium in the soil, so grain (including cereal) sold here has that added. My big horses get less than a cup of grain a day. The older pony gets a couple cups.

I’ve used them forever as well without issue. Rather than stack them I made a wrack for them. Painted it white. It looked great and worked very well.

I’ve recently discovered Costco is selling a similar bin to the IKEA but it’s heavier plastic and the lid snaps shut. I will be setting up my feed room at our new farm soon and will switch to those.

I bought these. They looked brilliant!

Then they started to sag and the lids wouldn’t fit tight. I changed from storing feed to other things. The mice thought they were cozy. :rage:
