They must be fire-sale-ing everything… just saw a 25% off discount code this morning that I managed to stack on the existing 10% promo and my USEF and SmartPerks discounts.
They’ve been doing something like 50% off new supplements/buckets for the past 6 months, plus all these random sales. Maybe trying to up smartpak subscribers/fire sale other inventory before selling?
Got another sale promo email from Smartpak. They are definitely surfacing things from the depths to get it sold.
Anyone size XS needing winter fleece, get over to the Smartpak website asap.
I would say it makes me more likely to try supplements from elsewhere if I already have to get other supplies from Dover, Big D’s, etc.
There is a factory store at their offices in Plymouth, I have not been there but it is another way for them to move some of the old stuff they will no longer be selling.
I watched Smartpak from their rise to whatever is happening now, and it’s a shame. They started with an innovative product that was a boon for boarding barns and private barns alike because it simplified the entire process of supplement feeding. But then they expanded to other items, and in my opinion, their fatal flaw was offering the crazy good guarantee. Sure we loved it (and used it!) but it was unsustainable in the long run. Had they just stuck to their original product concept, they might not have realized the huge market presence they had for some time, but they probably would have steadily maintained a robust business that stood the test of time.
I think the company that bought them is just interested in supplements because that’s their business.
I really hate to hear this, because Piper and Hadley are two of the absolute best brands when it comes to size inclusivity on breeches. Hadley is pretty much all I wear, so I guess I will need to buy some extra before they are all gone in my size
If they are as profitable as I expect they are based on how often they are recommended, I would think SmartPak would sell the brand to someone else to market and distribute.
I agree, I love their sun shirts too! I wish someone would just buy their clothing lines and keep those going.
If you internet search, or Amazon search, any brand, you are likely to get hits outside of Smartpak.
Yes, this is what I was thinking!
Maybe they can keep the Piper/Hadley lines and just streamline those? It seems like there are upteen different iterations of the Piper breeches now, just make a fullseat and a kneepatch in a basic color range, with a seasonal color or two thrown in rather than 15 different models all in different color selections.
I went and looked today and they no longer have the regular Pipers - just the Evolution and Fusion lines, and the knit and denim fabric (not the regular weight fabric). I haven’t looked in a while though, so maybe they sunsetted the regular Pipers a while ago?
I think they stopped making more when they were bought out, and I’ve noticed that there are very limited sizes/colors in the evolution/fusion lines and those are all on clearance.
