I like softer boots because I can feel the horse so much better and feel how “loud” my aids are. I school in paddocks and half-chaps for this reason. But that’s me.
I like stiff boots for competitions. My legs are skinny and unless soft boots fit super tight, which is never the case :no:, they will look wrinkly. I don’t feel much of a difference as far as leg aids or position. It’s all about the look!!! :winkgrin:
