I am simply wondering what you all think about this mare’s bloodlines. She’s being (re)trained as an open hunter.

Don’t know much about those lines but a lot of tb in there proabaly makes her a little more refined for hunters
Yes, she certainly believes she’s “refined” beyond all else. :rolleyes: 
Seriously, she looks like a widdle warmblood; she didn’t get her sire’s height but she has nice muscling.
Seeing how this is the Western Forum why are you asking here?
I have never seen “open hunter” at a Western Event.
Plus the fact that it’s a TB.
The Last Captive is a lovely former stallion was gelded due to inguinal hernia surgery. He won some pretty big classes in the QH world and happens to be one of my favorite QH’s I was very sad when I learned he had to be gelded.

I am asking in the “Western” forum because most of the posters seem knowledgable about AQHA bloodlines and showing. And yes, there are “open hunters” that show at AQHA events (in jumping classes), so I thinking that I could get some input from those who cross-over.
And, technically, she isn’t a TB (although she is)–she’s an appendix QH.
Fluffy - wander on over here anytime. There are some very knowledgable quarter horse owners around here. I have one appendix and two foundation bred quarter horses but cannot help a whole lot in the bloodline department. I have never been as worried about the bloodlines as the actual horses and their dispostions.

AQHA doesn’t automatically mean Western.
AQHA and QHs are active in Racing Events.
I do realize QHs do do jumping.

You posed the question as English Boodline… not what do you think of this QH?
Are you saying the “English” group is a tad bias?

I realize that AQHA doesn’t equal western only–my first horse started life as a running QH.
The reason that I didn’t post this query in H/J is because often the posters there aren’t “into” AQHA bloodlines, especially compared to the WESTERN show riders I know. It’s really that simple–just a question based on some general impressions, no grand conspiracy here.
The Last Captive has thrown some decent AQHA over fences horses. I’ve also seen some doing dressage that were just lovely. From what I’ve heard he seems to throw a little more quiet ammy-friendliness than some of the other “English” QH lines.
The TBs in that pedigree are known to cross well with all kinds of quarter horses, especially as running and ranch lines.
What some forget is that the original AQHA was formed with horses that many were direct descendants from the remount TB stallions, as many of our neighbors and ours were.
There is not one AQHA horse out there today that doesn’t has some TB back in it’s pedigree.
As far as any one horse being a good competitive jumper, we won’t really know that until we see it can jump, no matter what other that good jumping horse may be.
Understand why you came here. I have a paint that’s poco lines doing dressage and is amazing at it. But it is a western horse typically so i understand your coming here for bl questions. Don’t sweat it. Love to see a pic

The Last Captive is an amazing horse, beautiful mover, I saw him show in VA before he was gelded, absolutely beautiful!!!. Son of Last Detail which is one of the Top Ranked Performance Stallions. The Last Captive’s have done pretty well in the show pen in Under Saddle and Over Fences. Not real sure of the TB side, nothing really stands out. If she’s good minded and sound then just enjoy. I have 1 Appendix and 2 QH. I have a 3 YO QH that is out of a daughter of Last Detail, she’s great minded and a pleasure to work with. My Appendix mare (3/4 TB) has the TB tendancies, more high strung and very hormonal. But love them both!

And I can’t comment on the bloodlines. My “western” horse is my retired WB jumper

You’d have to wander over to H/J land and look for a thread on bloodlines to understand. The vast majority (if they’re not breeders) don’t give a rootin’ tootin’ fig nootin for bloodlines.

Agree…with the push off that hind end and tracking up like many don’t when they show AQHA i would go for it!
I have always owned appendix horses except for the one I own now…if I were looking for a horse I would def. have checked this one out!
I understand u coming here…usually h/j people don’t know aqha bloodlines
