Any horses arriving from California must be inspected by a Veterinarian.

Noted that Heritage also recently made a post stating that they were not accepting horses from VS affected states. Looks like it’s precautionary but there are more cases that have tested positive (I think it’s now closer to 30-40 being monitored and about 15 being positive) and more regions of CA that have presented cases.
Let’s hope it can be somewhat contained and doesn’t spread.
Here’s the CA state vet page on VSV which is updated regularly with the current official data: https://www.cdfa.ca.gov/ahfss/Animal_Health/VS.html. There were cases in San Diego and Riverside County, as of June 2 there was a new case in San Bernadino County as well.
I’m in LA County, so no cases here yet. A USEF Channel B / USHJA Outreach show scheduled for next weekend canceled and is offering to transfer entries to their July show. A boarder at my facility also said she’d heard a dressage show canceled, and entries at Flintridge Dressage over Memorial Day Weekend were way down, lots of folks scratched.
There is a county-level open show (so not under USEF regulations) here in LA this weekend with 150+ entries. The host facility asked on Friday that all entries provide a vet note stating the horse was free of VSV, so the show got a few vets to come to the showgrounds and provide memos for horses already there. Don’t really love how that went down, especially as the host facility is across the street from my barn.
I hope shows keep canceling and folks just sit tight.
June 6th notification… now confirmed in Orange County.
Oh, no.
The Huntercreek shows in June here in Oregon also just said no horses from CA will be allowed. Not sure if the 3 Day events in the PNW will follow… but they probably should.
