Speaking of helmets, how do you store 'em in the barn?

Mine has a removable liner, so I take that out after every ride and let it air dry on top of or next to a container of Damp Rid that is sitting on my shelf. [/QUOTE]

Am I understanding that you have a tack locker, and that is where the shelf is located? Do you find your liner is dry if you are riding the next day?

I just added a thing of Damp Rid to my trunk. I’m wondering if I should move it closer to my helmet

To the OP, mine stays in my trunk or comes home with me. I found an unwanted visitor when I left it out once, and that creeped me out so much I almost bought a new helmet!

I keep my Troxel GP Classic in my helmet partition on my field boot bag, and my BR goes in the little drawstring bag it came in till I buy it its own padded zippered case. Those usually stay in the house, and my Tipperary is floating around in my LQ trailer lol

Stored in my Charles Owen helmet bag (I have a couple of them) and inside my place - never stored in the barn or truck but always in a temperature controlled location.

It hangs on a hook on the wall with a black lycra cover. If I notice it getting dusty, I dip the lycra in the wash pail and hang it to dry until tomorrow.

I put up a couple of rows of these

That looks perfect. They would dry out better than hanging against the wall.

We have a climate controlled tack room, and I hang it by the buckled strap from my saddle rack If I put it in a trunk or my locker it would never dry! Mind you, I am at the barn at least 5 days /week, and in our climate there isn’t too much of a problem with creepy crawlies.

I leave mine out after a ride to give it a chance to air out. When I leave the barn I put it in the drawstring bag it came with, along with my hairnet. Gloves usually get velcroed to the drawstring itself. Then I take it home.
I used to keep my old helmet in the car all the time but I do worry about the extreme temps, and since my house is between work and the barn I am usually able to swing by and pick it up if I decide to go riding.

My horses are at home. My helmet is in the desk drawer in the non climate controlled tack room. Only place the mice and crawlies can’t get

I sun-dry mine as best I can in warm weather, then pop it in my trunk, which is a Rubbermaid-type material. It’s stored there year round and I’ve never considered the temperatures affecting it. Since it should be replaced every few years, if something does happen to it, then I’ll have to replace it whether it’s time to or not. A few times a year I’ll wash the removable lining (Ovation helmet).

My BO’s daughter had hers hanging on a blanket rack in the aisle. OMG it stunk! I couldn’t figure out what that smell was…UGH! She does store hers in a zippered bag, probably when damp, which would explain the smell.
