So evidently you were there, COmtns, and didn’t see anything extraordinary in jswan’s performance? I imagine she’s like a duck – looking serene on the surface but paddling like mad beneath. It takes a LOT to organize such a show – I’ve managed stabling ONLY at horse trials and it’s quite a job. I can’t imagine putting THIS whole thing together.
Jswan was perfectly justified in making sure that the food and coffee in the secretary’s tent was for HER volunteers – otherwise, what’s to stop every passer-by from coming in and decimating the supplies?[/QUOTE]
I’ve been on show committees for Class A breed shows, as well as exhibiting at the same shows. This was the best run show I’ve ever seen, bar none, and with far more hound entries than horses by several hundred. Nothing goes off without a few glitches and the constructive criticism was well-received. I imagine it’ll be even better next time.
On the subject of moochers of food and coffee, there’s a darn good reason I clearly said my treats were for my group ONLY: I didn’t bust my butt to get them made and to the show ON TIME just so that everyone BUT my group could enjoy them. As it was, we didn’t even open them until nearly lunchtime because there was no time for screwing around eating or gossiping. We were doing actual work. The kind no one notices unless it’s not done. Like ditching program sales conveniently when the tailgates start.
As for getting “legitimate” information from the president? Well, I imagine the entire committee has all been filled in.
