I show rated USDF, jumpers and eventing. I wear sunglasses all the time in dressage (and everything I do). I’ve never had any judge say a word. My dressage trainer is a judge and wouldn’t let me go down centerline with anything questionable, so I don’t worry about it. Depending on where you live, lenses that change with the light can be helpful. I use those for XC or if it’s a day where it is going from sunny to cloudy.
I wear them. Mine snap into my helmet with magnet’s. They are amazing and not sure anyone even sees them. I have the kind that brightens up dark and dims sunlight which I really enjoy if need to go in a barn or if cloud cover happens.
I’m in New England and have been wearing sunglasses at recognized shows for years…I am light sensitive. Not one judge has said anything about it. My FEI trainer will wear them when needed as well, in competition.
I wear them because I’m near sighted and they’re prescription
I have no medical need for them, but see so much better and always wear them.
Does make me wonder if I lose the impact of full eye makeup - liner, lashes, shadow and eyebrows would be more dramatic. And I remember there’s no score for rider turnout.
I like the pictures better without sunbird but I like the scorers better when I can see.
I use Oakley blades. They hold well, I school with them and they guard wind and rain.
I think the right glasses and shape enhance a riders appearance and who wants to wear eye makeup when it’s hot!?
That’s the other thing - I don’t have to worry about how bleary-eyed and unkempt I might look from getting up at 4 am!
