Spinoff: Why do you scribe?

My point was, most free walks in competition are lacking, and I (personally) feel they are a bit of a gimme score with some effort.
Judges DO reward a lowered head and neck with nose out even if “more overstep” is needed.
I scribe in Lexington Ky for recognized shows and have for years.

It depends what you mean by “rewarded”. Getting a 6 is hardly a reward.

I suppose that’s true for some people. However, others struggle to get sixes. For them, it is a reward for their hard work.

ANd if there is no overstep a judge should not 'reward" it because overstep is inthe directives for the movement. Having owned and competed a horse with marginal overstep, you bet I loved those times I got a 6.5 for “minimal overstep shown”!! I really do not think your example is what DLee1 had in mind by the comment.

You are a mind reader?

I think you are stuck on the word “reward.”

“Reward” implies something given for something well done. Perhaps “gifted” is a better word choice.

We will have to agree to disagree.
