Sprenger bits- worth the $$?

Eileen,

How thoughtful of you to post a picture, too! That is a big help for me. But I agree with others, it was kinda hard to notice the bit (or browband) with that photo – a stunner!

J-Lu,

You are making me feel better. I ordered bigger because I think I need thinner and somehow my logic went in that direction, lol! The DS is at 15mm and the bradoon was 14mmm, we’ll see if it looks too big

Iride – latex/saran wrap. Perfect. I didn’t think of that one either. (Nor did I order both sizes, might do that tonight just to make sure)

I’ve used a flash with most other horse … but this one made no bones about the fact that the flash chaffed her precious fleshy lips (and it did chaffe despite its proper fitting) and she was not about to stand for it (well, she’d stand on two legs for it…). Like you said, whatever works!! You have to find what’s best for the individual.

3spots, this particular horse’s bradoon is 14 mm (kk ultra) 5 3/4" and the curb is 16mm 5 1/2" (would have bought 5 1/4 if they made it in that size). They’re the thinnest HS bits that fit her mouth shape (I recently bought thinner stainless steel but haven’t tried them yet - the double bridle is alot of metal for this horse’s low palate mouth). These bits look big for the width of her mouth, but at the end of the day…they seem to work for this delicate flower and that is what is most important!!
