It is not at all difficult to keep a stall deeply bedded AND have it remain nice, fresh, clean with white shavings look. OP, you’re not asking for much and you’re paying to have it done properly. I can’t stand it when barn owners or managers feel they can keep their boarders stalls looking however they wish just because the cost of board is lower than the fancy barn down the road. Good horse care is almost always a matter of elbow grease, efficiency, and a little hard work. This can easily be achieved by not wasting anymore than the person who is keeping their horses on scant bedding. It takes more time to sift. Yes. But it’s not going to waste money if the people cleaning them know what they’re doing. Im not a boarder. I am a barn owner and have been taking care of other people’s horses for twenty plus years. It can be done and it’s not too much to ask.[/QUOTE]
I clearly need to explain this to my piggy mare… Because I have yet to find a way to keep her deeply bedded and not need to toss way too much of it out every day. No amount of careful sifting with a pitchfork gets out pulverized manure and that dirty look of pulverized manure is what the OP is complaining about.
The only plus related to the cold of winter, some manure balls freeze solid before they can be pulverized.
