Stall Door Latches, please leave your opinion here!

Barn I used to work at had sliding doors that were unlocked by pulling down in one of the bars along the top. The bottoms of the door were solid wood but the top had verticle bars all the way across.

They were by far my favorite type of latch. You could open them from inside or outside the stall, one handed, gloved/ungloved, and the horses didnt play with them.

I have this type of stall latch. It is gravity driven. When the latch is lifted up, the door is able to be moved into the fully open or fully closed position. The latch will drop into the locked position on it’s own. If the door is only partially open, the latch is kept in the upward position with pressure from the stall door. This type of latch will only work with stall fronts that you can reach through in order to get to the latch. If you can’t reach through and the door shuts into the locked position you will need someone to let you out.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
We went with Triton doors, and though we ordered the latches that are somewhat new to me, they sent us something different instead. The pull down bar. Which will work, I think. At least not the really bad ones we had before that were so easy to jump out of the track.
Thanks guys!
