I use solar power in my barn. My husband purchased a DIY kit and installed it himself. I have two solar panels on the roof of the barn and use one battery to run the fan during the hottest part of the afternoon for 3-4 hours with no problem. I could add another battery to use the fan longer if needed. I also run LED lights inside the barn using the solar. Very happy with it.

Your husband sounds like a gem! And having solar power sure beats having the power go out on a hot day and waiting for the power company to get the lines fixed. I can always go to Walmart and wait for the power to come back on but my horses have to stand there sweating.
