Stall Mats - A Must Have or No?

thanks, but ours have been in place for nearly 30 years without a need to move them around… I am just saying if I were renting a place adding mats to the stalls would be low on the list of things to do… that money could be placed into an account for a down payment on a place of my own

I have never used stall mats. Stalls were always dirt and we would put gravel screenings over that which packs down well and won’t develop the " pee hole" issues with just dirt or traditional gravel. We always keep some available in a small pile if the need arises and you may need to fill a low spot.

Yup, this is how we move ours!

when ever some mentions moving mats, you come to mind quickly

That’s a dubious distinction

Meh, for a rented place I’d likely skip the mats. We got by without them (dirt floors, rock hard ground, horses only in occasionally). Finally did add them (from TSC, the thick mats, 6 per stall) and did the shedrow aisle. Now I own this place, so it was a matter of biting the bullet. So glad I did. No more holes where the pee spots got dug out, no holes where impatient horses pawed waiting on dinner, etc.

But renting? Meh. Probably not. For the smell use barn lime or PDZ.
