Oops, made a mistake, we bought ours from Gebo’s, a local regional SW farm supply store, not TS.
TS didn’t have the 4’ x 8’, only the 4’ x 6’ ones. It was a while ago and ours are not slippery.
Will correct my post.

When we were talking about your stalls on the other thread, I took a look at the Stall Savers web site. It took a lot of searching to find any mention of bedding, but they do say in the FAQs that they don’t recommend pellets. There’s a question about bedding but they don’t have it bolded so you have to read closely to find it.
Sounds like a call to them is in order.
I didn’t say that only straw works with Stall Savers. I said that straw works best with them, which is true in my experience and that of several other long-term users of them. The Stall Savers website even says not to use sawdust or fine shavings with them due to the small particles clogging the pores in the material.
Large flake shavings can work as long as you use plenty of them, but straw is much easier and cheaper.
It would probably be easier for everyone to follow this conversation if you didn’t have three simultaneous threads going on the subject…
Thank you for clarifying! I’m sorry I didn’t understand what you were trying to say the first time. However, I still don’t think it’ll work for us because we are planning on using the fine flake shavings, and the bigger issue is that we don’t have good draining sand underneath.
I probably should’ve kept everything to one thread, but I’ve already decided to remove the Stall Savers and try something else. That’s why I felt the other thread was necessary—I’ve moved on to planning the new setup, and I need to decide whether to use stall mats or not. If I do use stall mats, I want to know which ones people recommend and what the best way to set them up is.
The new thread isn’t supposed to be about Stall Savers or whether I should reuse them. It’s about starting fresh with a whole new setup, and I just wanted to hear other people’s opinions and learn what they prefer to use so we don’t make a mistake again.
The third thread is also unrelated to Stall Savers. It’s about how many bags of shavings per horse is a reasonable estimate for about a month. I really appreciate all the help so far and just trying to learn.
