Stallion Christ

Has anyone used this stallion? How is his frozen semen? Did he improve the mare, if so, in what way? Who did you order the frozen semen from? Thanks in advance.

Bump. I too am very intrigued by this guy.

We have two doses that we will be using on Dixieland Jazz d’Avalon (Don Principe x Mata Hari/Mannhattan) on her next breeding cycle should she decide to cooperate with us. Should be an interesting combination :).

Kathy, that recipe sounds yummy. Fingers crossed that you get the bun in the oven.

Thinking of using Christ on my elite mare who is Weltbekannt/Ramino. She’s had two fillies - last year by Sinatra Song who was filly champion at inspection and this year by Rubignon. This R filly is exceptional - better than her half sister from last year.

Equine Reproduction can u comment on semen quality? Who did u use to import the semen?

I bred my Donnershlag mare to Christ this spring, two cycles, super timing, iffy semen, no pregnancies. I really wanted this one, had been planning it for two years. I would love to hear if anyone had any luck!

@Kathy-saw several more last week in Germany. All were super quality in type and gaits. Showed a few of the foal and mare judges photos of Duet(Don Principe/Rotspon) and without fail, each one said CHRIST!
However, we did get a pregnancy last year from the semen but mare lost it at 28 days. Tried two more times with the same mare, good post thaw on the semen, with no pregnancy, so switchinng mares and fingers crossed!

I have a really nice Christ - Stedinger - Cartousch - Kroonprinz xx - Volkorn xx filly from a very good South Germany dam line.

She is the friendlist, most confident filly I have had in Germany. Very pretty, super gaits, compact, and quite refined. She has never lost her prettiness or gaits, and I think will end up 16.2, maybe 16.3 hands.

We will start her under saddle over the winter and try for the MPT. I will then decide whether to ride her myself or put her in breeding in Germany.

Yes, the stallion Christ has lots of energy, but I for one really have liked his foals and that is why I bought one. I did make sure though to get one out of a super character mare.

Well, fingers crossed we’re successful. The mare has a SUPER temperament - ALL of my own mares, if they wish to continue living here, better ;). We deal with enough unpleasant outside mares that I just won’t do it with my own mare, so I’m confident that temperament will overcome. I don’t mind spicy with a gas pedal, but sanity is a requirement!

The mare we are using is young and hasn’t had a foal yet, so fingers crossed that the semen is good. We missed her last cycle, but hopefully will catch her in about 10 days - just waiting for her to come back in! I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted on how the semen looks (we’ll evaluate it with the CASA).

Bred our mare last night. 3 yo maiden mare bred within 3 hours of ovulation and thankfully she cooperated by ovulating BEFORE midnight so I actually got some sleep last night :D!! I’ll let everyone know what we find in two weeks!

Did you look at the semen under the microscope? If so, how did it look? I have a dose just sitting around. I’m not sure what to do with it!

Of course :D!

It was fair…not great, but not horrible either. We’ll know in two weeks if it gets the job done. We figured the mare was going to go within the next couple hours when we checked her at 8:30 and I was PRAYING she would cooperate as I desperately needed a night’s sleep <lol>. Thankfully she cooperated!

Awesome. Fingers crossed for you!

Doin’ the happy dance :). Dixie preg checked in foal this a.m. with a 13 day embryo! Woo hoo!!! So now just hoping this heat wave breaks, we get rain, pastures grow, drought is over and hay becomes more readily available. I don’t want much <lol>!!! REALLY excited about this cross. The mare has a superb temperament and is just lovely. Yay me!!! <grin>

Yay for you!!!

Congratulations! Love the bloodlines of your mare, and the stallion. What a nice cross. Best of luck!

Huge Congrats Kathy!!! I am so jealous  Can’t wait to see your Christ FILLY next year!

Congrats Kathy! I can’t wait to see that foal (filly, of course), and I’ll throw in fingers crossed that the drought breaks.

That’s awesome!! Mazel Tov.

I know what u mean by drought. I live in northwest Louisiana just inside the state line from Texas. I have sprinklers going morning and pm!

I’d like to come and see your horses. You are about 6 hours away. Then you can come and see my SPS Fenjala X Moreland’s Totilas foal:)

I use Hartman Equine in Whitesboro Texas for my frozen semen work and embryo transplants.

That would bankrupt us <sigh>. Everything is just drying up and burning up. 109 here today. Absolutely insane!

Please come visit anytime!! You should also go to the last three days of the stallion testing! Great fun and an opportunity to meet lots of really nice people!

There are a few down in that neck of the woods, but I just ship semen that direction :).
