Stallion Suggestions For My Mare, Please

I have a beautiful A Fine Romance daughter, out of an Ali Baba mare. Ali Baba was a GP jumper advertised as a Polish Warmblood, but was of primarily Trakehner bloodlines. The grand dam was a Trakehner.
She is about 16.1, very athletic, good mover, outstanding jumper. She has a very kind intelligent temperament, with a ‘let’s get her done’ work ethic.
I would be happy with a foal just like her, with potential for eventing or jumpers.
I had decided to retire from breeding, but hate to see all the potential of this mare wasted. But I am also out of the loop in terms of stallions available.
I would prefer fresh semen, and because of that, stallions based in Canada would simplify things.
Thank you for any suggestions at this rather late date.

Fred:

I have been really impressed by Dreamscape Farms. She has lovely stallions and takes great care in her suggestions. I am in love with Delta Force and Foxy may be having a baby. www.dreamscapefarm.com

My daughter was Ali Baba’s groom/exercise rider back in her Gap year!

Very cool. Such a beautiful horse, who left us far too soon.

I agree, I have recommended Dreamscape to breeders many times, lovely stallions, and very professional people for sure.
Valentino caught my eye for this mare.
How exciting about your mare!

Sir Wanabi - beautiful horse, with lovely babies for sure!

Thank you for your suggestions so far.

I also love Quilot Z
Wonderful temperament on that stallion!

I can’t wait to see more suggestions for your mare, and glad you’re not completely done breeding.

I wasn’t going to make any suggestions as I feel I’m not educated enough, but you mentioned you preferred stallions based in Canada… have you looked at any of the Beaulieu stallions? Their website is terribly out of date, but is here: http://www.fermebeaulieufarm.com/

I have long had a minor (okay, major) love affair with Beaulieu’s Coolman (sadly deceased) after working with and handling four of his kids when I was a working student for a BNT eventer… they were all lovely to handle, very kind, beautiful movers and naturally, excellent jumpers. I’ve been watching a few of his kids that are local and like what I see. I believe there may be some frozen still around - you could also look at Beaulieu’s Quissini, who is also by the same stallion (QdR) and from what I’ve seen, shares many of the same wonderful traits as Coolman. There is also a Beaulieu’s Coolman Jr, but I am not sure if they are standing him currently.

Another really, really nice stallion that I’ve taken to (that is coincidentally also by QdR) is Quite Easy. QE has many event kids, including IIRC, one owned by Doug Payne.

Of course, if you wanted TK you know I’d suggest Tatendrang… and there’s always Buddenbrock who we know is a great sire of eventers

Outside the box, but what about Schwarzenegger?

Are you not trying VDL WIndsor with this mare again, Fred (or am I thinking of a different mare)?

Charlot Farms has a couple of new ones to consider with some interesting lines: http://www.charlotfarm.com/stallionlist.asp?int_category=2005

Gatsby was standing on Ontario last time I checked. Not really conventionally known as a top producer of eventers, but all his kids I’ve seen have been superb jumpers and excelled at dressage. And being out of a TB mare, he would certainly bring enough blood to the table for a future eventer out of your AFR daughter.

Good luck!

Thank you for that suggestion, Hawkridge, this is another stallion I am unfamiliar with.

Thank you DBU. I love my VDL Windsor colt, out of one of my AFR daughters. I think he is spectacular. This is a different mare, and he is definitely a stallion I like a lot.

Thank you, beowulf. I like those horses too, thanks for reminding me.

Thank you, Heinz and Dresslvr - I appreciate these suggestions. You are all giving me a lot to think about.

I guess that you have already considered Rather Well. For an event horse to be a really good 4* horse these days, the thinking is that around 75% TB blood is needed.

I’d suggest at least looking at Jackaroo who is available frozen in NA. He’s 94% TB, and he certainly comes from a good family that has produced 4* level horses.

I’m just tickled pink that you’re breeding again! Can’t wait to see who you choose!

Thank you, viney - you know I completely forgot about Rather Well. Silly me. Such a nice horse, and there would an interesting inbreeding going on (Raja Baba and Gay Missile).
At this point frozen is not an option for me, but Jackaroo is a lovely suggestion.

Thank you for your kindness, Dressagelvr.
I have felt so ‘untethered’ since Fred died, I just feel that I have lost my purpose and my moorings. It is important to me that his bloodlines continue, and this is part of that.
