Stolen kittens. New update: Mama cat might need a home

Minerva for sure. Then when she is friendly it can be shortened to Minnie.

She is a pretty critter. Love dilute torbies.

Peaches? Patches? Smiley (because she isn’t). Nastia?

Yay! So excited you caught her!

Minerva was picked up. She spent the night in the tack room in her trap. Probably easier on her with all the fireworks last night. She rubbed her little nose, but I guess that’s common.

We get her back Wednesday morning. We’re going to set up a crate for her to see how she does. They will deworm and give her a flea treatment. We’ll pay for that, but the vaccines and spay are free.

She is little. I’m surprised four kittens came out of her.

Thank you for making her life so much better!

Minerva looks like an adolescent cat- not a kitty but not full grown.

Wonderful effort moonlitoaksranch, all your work has paid off. Thanks from this bunch!!!

Wait until they open her up. A tiny street cat can have a huge uterus.

Because of the incoming storm, the rescue dropped off Minerva this afternoon, right after surgery. She’s in her extra large dog crate now. When we opened the trap, she dove into the little covered bed I have in there. She has another place to hide, food, water, litter box towards the front where I can change it, and even a toy. The bed was actually the one her kittens slept in while in the house. I wonder if she recognizes the smell? Anyway, it’s tucked away towards the back of the barn where the rain can’t reach. I covered most of it to give her more privacy. Not a bad place to ride out a nasty storm and recover from a spay.

Hang in there through the storm. All of you. :hugs:

I’m so glad you were able to snag her and get her all tucked in before the storm  It sounds like she’s got a cozy home!

To share, the starving cat I trapped awhile ago (right at the end of May I guess!) didn’t come out of her bed for over 24 hours. And then she would only come out between 2-3 am for about a week. I kept a camera on her, which was super handy. Even with that level of “freaked out,” there really was a friendly cat there–it just took some time for her to figure out we were there to help. I was really worried about her being FERAL feral, and my ability to get her to the vet, and her ability to handle that, but by the time that appt came up–about ten days after trapping?–she was doing well enough to handle.

She drank a lot of water last night. Refreshed her water with a bottle and her food through the bars. She was hiding in her tube toy.

This is an awful picture because she was in her dark tube tunnel. She brought that green toy in there, so she must be playing a little. Her kittens used that toy, the tunnel and the bed to the left. Pretty cute.

Maybe the toy and all the rest remind her of her kittens. I’m glad she is feeling brave enough to move around a bit and re-arrange the “furniture.” I think she would be proud of how her babies turned out.

If you have any smallish stuffed animal toys she might enjoy dragging one around.
One of mine has taken over ignored dog stuffed toys and drags them all over the house and
meowing as she does it. She has a large rabbit and another thing with long arms and legs that squeeks when moved and this cat is crazy for them.
So glad she’s doing well.

This reminds me of a story my east coast brother told me several months ago. His daughter had a kid, his first grandkid. So brother gave the boy a stuffed rabbit as a welcome gift. Definitely a people toy, bought in the people toy’s section, not squeaking or catnip-stuffed or anything, just a regular stuffed animal.

They can’t keep it with the kid. My niece’s cat keeps stealing it.

one of our kitties does that too! He loves the teeny beanie babies that used to come in happy meals. For some reason, my mother had a horde of them, and gave them to us. I threw them in a box and thought nothing of it - until kitty opened the box and discovered a treasure.

He would bring his “kills” to us at all hours of the night. With each one he would be meowing proudly as he deposited them in our bedroom. Some nights he would make a pretty orderly line of them on the floor, other times he insisted on putting them on our pillows. His favorite was a green frog - it was always the first one he moved. :joy:

Can I just pop in here to say how much I love her scowly face in there? The silly smiling toy next to her makes it even better!
