Storm Cat cloned
To the person inquiring to the cost, it may have come down but 6 years ago when I was around several cloned horses it was around $100k. The clones dont look like the original, but often exhibit some of the same personality traits. All the clones were bred to be used in non-breed competition: cutting, barrel racing and cow events. Two were clones of a great performer and sire who died and most others were clones of geldings that rose to the top ranks of their sport.
Funny you should say that. A few years ago a friend of mine brought me to her friend’s polo farm, who I was not familiar with. We were trying a nice little TB mare, who had flunked racing and then polo training. She wasn’t brave with other horses. To make a long story short friend was interested in the mare, tried her, rode her, liked her. Ended up with a different horse but that’s another story.

As we were walking down the barn aisle (this was down south, so think pole barn shed row) I pet the muzzle of a nice old mare, slender of face with a very inquisitive “look at me now” 'tude and waggling tongue. Passed a row of geldings and did a double take as the horse in the stall I passed swung her head over the door with her tongue lolling out. I was instructed to grab it  I was struck by how similar she was to the other mare and asked if it was her daughter… The owner replied nonchalantly “no, that is her clone”. Little old me got to stroke the muzzle of a clone! Too cool.

The ones I have seen have almost always been identical in construction/conformation - with slight differences in markings occasionally.

That would have been my choice!! SC’s are popular and cheap around Oklahoma. I’m not impressed by the ones I’ve known!!
