Strange behavior/personality change in horse

Best of luck Emerson. My last jumper developed head shaking and it was just heart breaking. At the time (in the nineties) there was less known about it and I tried everything for him. Even bought a nebulizer. He was a tough guy but I ended up donating him to the 4H in Virginia where he led trail rides and he was later sold on to someone in upstate NY. I wish they knew then what they know now.

Sorry to hear this. fWIW, I have a mild headshaker Who seems to have benefitted from large doses (12g/day) of lysine. I started her on it when we went “grain free” and it took a while for me to realize how much better her symptoms became. I was able to ride outside without a nose net for the first time in years. She decided not to eat her supplements for a couple weeks, and I had to put the nose net back on.

Lysine is super cheap. Might be worth a try.

Sorry to hear that. Hopefully he will respond to whatever treatment/ prevention you do.
